Frequently Asked Questions
About Our Jewellery
What kind of silver do you use?
We primarily use .925 sterling silver, a high-quality alloy made of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% strengthening metals (typically copper). This balance enhances durability while preserving the beauty and integrity of silver, making it ideal for everyday wear.
For our Heritage Collection featuring hand-enamelled (Meenakari) designs, the dangles are crafted in .925 sterling silver, while the enamel work itself is traditionally done on .99+ pure silver to allow for finer detailing and richer colour application.

How do I know my jewellery is authentic silver?
Unless the design is too small to allow stamping, all our sterling silver pieces are marked with a “925” hallmark. This industry-standard mark confirms the silver’s purity and authenticity.
Is your jewellery hypoallergenic?
Sterling silver is generally considered hypoallergenic. We do not use nickel, which is a common cause of skin irritation. However, individual sensitivities can vary, and we recommend discontinuing wear if irritation occurs.

What is Anti Tarnish Coating?
Anti-tarnish coating is a protective finish applied to select pieces to help slow natural oxidation. The jewellery is treated with a transparent, skin-safe organic coating that forms an invisible barrier, helping preserve shine and reduce tarnishing over time without altering the look or feel of the silver.
Size Guide
Earrings
Earring fit can vary based on piercing placement, ear shape, and personal preference. A hoop that fits snugly on one person may sit looser on another. We recommend reviewing the measurements below and comparing them with jewellery you already own before placing your order.
Small Hoops (8–12 mm)
Sit close to the earlobe for a minimal, everyday look.
Medium Hoops (14–20 mm)
Offer more room around the lobe — comfortable for daily wear with subtle presence.
Large Hoops (25 mm+)
Fall below the earlobe and create a more pronounced statement.
How to measure
• Measure from your piercing hole to the edge of your earlobe
• Add a few millimeters for a comfortable fit
Half-Hoop Studs
Most half hoops measure 10–15 mm in diameter. They give the appearance of a small hoop while wearing like a stud.
Because they don’t wrap fully around the lobe, the drop is more subtle than a full hoop. Measure from your piercing hole to where you’d like the bottom of the earring to sit.
Bracelets
How to Measure:
• Wrap a flexible tape, string, or paper strip around your wrist just above the wrist bone
• Add 0.5–1 inch (1.25–2.5 cm) depending on how snug or relaxed you prefer the fit
Necklaces
Common lengths
14 in (35 cm) — Choker
Sits close to the neck
16 in (40 cm) — Collarbone
A versatile everyday length
18 in (45 cm) — Princess
The most popular length; sits at or just below the collarbone
20 in (50 cm)
Falls below the collarbone, ideal for layering
Fit Tips:
• Consider your neckline — shorter chains pair well with V-necks, longer ones with high necklines.
• For kids and teens, smaller sizes (12–14 in) may be more suitable.
• Adjustable chains (with extender links) allow flexibility for layering.
• For kids or teens, smaller lengths (12–14 in) may be more suitable
Care and Maintenance
How should I clean my silver jewellery?
Wipe gently with a soft microfiber or cotton cloth after wear. For occasional deeper cleaning, use mild soap and lukewarm water, then dry thoroughly. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
Why is my silver jewellery tarnishing?
Tarnishing is a natural reaction between sterling silver and elements in the air and on the skin. It is not a sign of poor quality. Proper storage and gentle cleaning help slow the process.

How should I store my jewellery?
Store your jewellery in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. An airtight bag or a jewelry box with an anti-tarnish tab is ideal, as it helps reduce exposure to air and moisture.
Each Ganva jewellery box we ship includes an anti-tarnish tab, which typically lasts 6–12 months depending on environmental conditions. Additional tabs are provided for continued use.
How can I remove tarnish from my silver jewellery?
A silver polishing cloth may be used on plain, non-plated sterling silver to gently remove tarnish. Avoid using polishing cloths on gold-plated, enamel (Meenakari), or Everyday Collection pieces, as polishing compounds may affect their specialized finishes.
